AIM OF THE ROLE:
Under the supervision of the Inquest and Claims Manager, and in conjunction with NHS Resolution and Trust external solicitors co-ordinate the defence of all personal injury litigation claims against the Trust.
Under the supervision of the Inquest and Claims Manager, to co-ordinate the proper management of investigations into non-contentious deaths within the Trust that are reported to HM Coroner. This will involve providing full support to Trust staff in relation to the inquest process and acting as the main contact with HM Coroner’s Officers to assist with the organisation of the inquest and facilitate any requests for information in a timely manner.
Assist the Inquest and Claims Manager, and any other members of staff within the team, with various aspects of clinical negligence claims, and any other claims and advice, as required.
Ensure that all disclosure deadlines in relation to personal injury claims are met, in line with relevant legislation as well as court and NHS Resolution deadlines.
Undertake detailed root cause analysis of personal injury claims and ensure lessons are learnt to help reduce future claims. Work closely with the Complaints Department, PALS and Risk to triangulate areas of concern. Report all new claims and lessons learnt to the appropriate Divisional Director
Provide full briefings to the Communications Department on Inquests that may attract press attention.
