My client is an established manufacturer of machine tools to the woodworking industry. The company has not been affected by Covid and has actually gone from strength to strength over the last year. With a full order book they are seeking to expand their technical team to cope with the additional installation and service work that this has now brought to the company.
The client is looking to employ a FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER with good understanding of the service & repair of industrial machinery.
Based from home (within 40 miles of Central London) You will mainly (but NOT exclusively as sometimes you may be asked to work further afield) cover this region, installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining the full range of the company's machines. You will work Monday - Friday with occasional overnight stays at your own discretion which will roughly once per fortnight but can be more dependant on customer needs. The role will take you to both small machine shops and to large manufacturing facilities, so you need to be comfortable with dealing with clients at all levels.
You will need to be capable of carrying out electrical and mechanical diagnostics and repairs on industrial machinery. This means understanding single phase and 3 phase electrics, control systems and mechanical systems (Shafts, gearboxes, bearings etc). You will also need to be confident and well presented as this is a customer facing role, sometimes involving working under pressure, so you need to demonstrate that you will go "the extra mile".
40 hours per week. Company van, tools, petrol card and expenses. Regular overtime at enhanced rates. Paid from home
Start salary between £28,000 and £30,000 doe with the overtime guarantee plus additional hours as required.
To be considered for the above the company is looking for:
- Previous experience in electromechanical service and repair from within the machine tool industry. Those with experience in production machinery will also be considered.
- The ability to understand and follow engineering drawings
- Knowledge of wiring schematics / electrical fault finding
- Customer facing experience
- Full UK drivers licence with no more than three penalty points
- Knowledge of CNC controls is highly desirable
