I am currently recruiting a Food Regulatory Compliance Specialist on behalf of my client based in Colchester. If you are currently working in a Food Compliance role, then read on....

Role & Responsibilities:

Raw Material Compliance:

  • Complete food safety risk assessments for raw materials and liaise with suppliers to capture all relevant information
  • Carry out ongoing assessment of ingredients to ensure suitability and compliance
  • Ensure all raw materials have an approved and active specification
  • Maintain the business Supplier/ Raw Material Approval databases - liaising with Operations, Technical, Buying and NPD as appropriate
  • Work closely with Technical and SNPD Managers to ensure that all suppliers either existing to the business or a new supplier/material to be introduced into the business has full/current approval status
  • Maintain up to date specifications for materials and certificates (audit, Kosher, Halal, Organic) for Suppliers
  • Manage and record all quarantine activities when required. Communicate with relevant departments

Goods Inwards:

  • Checks made on all incoming materials to ensure correct against both the delivery note and current specification
  • Record all required information on the relevant documentation and input on to Sage
  • Escalate to Senior Management where ingredients fall outside of specifications and business shelf-life requirements
  • Sample all incoming ingredients and compare against previous retained sample. Maintaining all inspection records and samples for the business agreed timeframe. Regular checks to be made on these samples and disposal when required
  • Liaise with Suppliers where Raw Materials have come into the business damaged or out of specification. Arrange replacements or credits. Communicate with the relevant departments
  • Manage and record any product/ingredient shelf-life extensions. Communicate with all departments whilst ensuring materials are correctly labelled.


  • Assist QA Technician with monthly GMP and Glass and Hard Perspex audits
  • Attend the daily morning meetings and report on goods in from the previous day. Communicate any other relevant information
  • Assist in assuring food safety within the Manufacturing and Warehouse Areas
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of quality and process instructions and procedures controlling product manufacture, safety, and quality
  • Assist with staff induction and training and ensure that existing trained staff who are responsible for working with new staff members, only carry out training in accordance with designated procedures
  • Assist with internal audits, preventive, and corrective actions, resolving quality issues and any other matters relating to the quality management system
  • Assist the H.A.C.C.P. Team in implementation and maintenance of the Company H.A.C.C.P. system
  • Cover for QA Technicians annual leave. Covering all QC related tasks as a priority
